Job Title: Clay Educator
Reports to: Owners, Studio Manager
Location: 2205 N. Main St. Houston, Texas 77009
FLSA Status: Part-Time, Non-Exempt
Hourly Rate: $7.25/hour

Summary/Objective:

The Clay Educator's primary role is to provide on-demand instruction to HTX Clay members. The Clay Educator will also be asked to provide facility tours, engage with members and nonmembers in person and by phone, maintain the facility by sharing in daily studio duties and responsibilities, facilitate retail sales, open and close HTX Clay, support the purpose + mission of HTX Clay and uphold the core values of HTX Clay.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Answer questions and provide facility tours

  • Attend 12 paid monthly HTX Clay meetings (in person or virtually, 2 absences allowed)

  • Schedule and attend paid individual meetings quarterly

  • The primary role is to educate members of all skill levels

  • Minimum commitment of 6 hours/week and one special project/year

  • Daily studio upkeep and maintenance

  • Responsible for creating a welcoming and respectful environment

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Have a welcoming and respectful presence

  • Able to work alongside a team of educators and studio technicians

  • Excellent communication and people skills

  • Able to perform daily studio tasks

Education and Experience:

  • Experience teaching and working with clay
